Our electric scooters use about $0 .15 worth of electricity to go 30 miles. Plus, they do not pollute at all, they are 99% recycleable, and they last 10-20 years with regular maintenance. And if you use PNM BlueSky wind power or solar chargers to charge them, they have a zero carbon footprint.
Why use electric? Gas scooters get up to 100mpg, right? Well, gas scooters have some major problems. First, gas engines have an efficiency of around 35%, so you are polluting a lot just to get a little bit of rotation to the wheels. Electric motors have are 85-90% efficiency, so you know you are not wasting natural resources. Second, gas engines require lots of maintenance. They have tons of moving parts, seals that get old, oil to change, spark plugs, it goes on and on! This or that will go bad and you never know how much it will cost to fix. Electric motors last 10+ years without doing anything to them. Really, absolutely nothing! Just drive. You can trust that it will work every time. Eventually it will get worn out or something will go wrong, but they are cheap (like $100-$300) and easy to replace.
